Gathered at the neck, gathered again at the hem
The front is not cut flat. It is gathered into soft pleats at the point of the V, so the cloth falls in folds down the body instead of hanging straight, and it is gathered again into a deep band at the hem. That band is what holds the shape: it sits at the top of the hip and lets the rest blouse out above it. The shoulder seam sits just off the shoulder and the sleeve is short and easy.
